Lana Castle is a writer, speaker and mental health advocate, as well as a person with bipolar disorder herself. She has lived for more than forty-five years with depression and bipolar disorder, which went untreated over two thirds of that time.

After her oldest sister's suicide, Lana set out to learn as much as possible about mood disorders. Bipolar Disorder Demystified: Mastering the Tightrope of Manic Depression (2003) is the result.
